Thoughts on genetics and creativity

Train from Puno to Cuzco, Peru 2010I knew for fifty years I had creative genes and imaginative energy fields within me. I had suffocated them with the practicality of earning a corporate paycheck. The artistic evidence of genetic creativity that flourishes in my talented daughter quickly squashes the fear that sometimes engulfs me to honor this divine-inspired change. Not only did Darrah Wills artistic skills appear early, winning awards in high school,  but she followed her passion and graduated from the College of Santa Fe and was hired into a prestigious job at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in the same town. Now Santa Fe is just a place for her to restock her luggage as she travels the globe installing and de-installing O’Keeffe exhibits. If I ever question that I can use art to inspire, heal, or help a person, I just look at her accomplishments and know I am using my newly acquired artistic and therapeutic skills with some confidence.
